1919 Family Photo
A Day in the Park

In a box filled with photographs I found this little photo. The years had taken their tole and it was ready to shatter into a number of pieces.
I scanned it front and back. Then I resized it and printed on Super Color Art Canvas.
Underneath I printed the scanned inscription which had been hand written by my mother on the reverse side.

I affixed the original photo to the left of the inscription.
Having found just the right frame, this wonderful 1919 picture of my mother, her mother (a women I never knew since she died when my mother was only ten years old), my Grandfather and my aunt is no longer hidden in a box of old photographs. It holds a place of honor in my office as a daily reminder of loved ones no longer with us.

It's easy to bring new life to old photos. And it makes you feel good to keep those past memories alive.

Music-of-the-Night Wall Hanging

Music-of-the-Night

One of my favorite plays is Phantom. My wife and I saw the production in Chicago and again when we were in London.

I don't remember where I saw it, but following one of our theater visits we walked into a small shop next to the theatre. There they had a number of play related items hung on the wall ... playbills, music, memorabilia.
And then there was this artistic piece which included a ticket stub, playbill cover and a "trinket" affixed to the outer frame to add depth to the piece.

This memory inspired the sample shown here. I scanned sheet music from Phantom and printed the music on a sheet of SUPER COLOR ART CANVAS. Then I printed another piece of music on SUPER COLOR SHRINK.
Next I printed a copy of the Playbill on SUPER COLOR SHINK as well as an enlarged image of the "mask."
The items printed on shrink were then placed into a toaster oven and shrunk to their final reduced size. I matted the Art Canvas and then placed it onto a wooden base.
Next the Playbill was creatively affixed to a piece of shrink on which music was printed. Actually, the base onto which the playbill cover was affixed was a piece of shrink which "stuck together" in the toaster oven. Rather than disgarding it, it became a "support" for the playbill. The "playbill" came out of the oven perfectly flat.
Finally the mask, which I shaped slightly while it was still warm, was glued in place.
And that's all there was to it.

I have to admit this is one of my favorite samples.

Super Color Art Canvas is a coated nylon,
designed for use with all Color Ink Jet Printers.
Create "artist like" renderings on a special formulated,
coated cloth surface.

NOTE: This image was embellished with a little butterfly
made with Super Color Shrink !

This printed photograph was made to "puff" by placing batting behind printed
image as it was being matted. Then the entire project was framed (without glass).
